Comparado a cl\u00e1ssicos como &#8220;1984&#8221;, de George Orwell, e &#8220;Admir\u00e1vel mundo novo&#8221;, de Aldous Huxley, &#8220;Submiss\u00e3o&#8221; emerge como uma s\u00e1tira precisa e devastadora dos valores de nossa pr\u00f3pria sociedade contempor\u00e2nea. <\/p>\n<p>O lan\u00e7amento do livro em 2015 na Fran\u00e7a foi marcado historicamente pelo atentado terrorista que atingiu o jornal sat\u00edrico franc\u00eas Charlie Hebdo no mesmo dia. Uma caricatura imediatamente reconhec\u00edvel de Houellebecq em uma s\u00e1tira que mencionava sua obra foi a imagem na \u00faltima edi\u00e7\u00e3o do Charlie Hebdo antes do ataque \u00e0 sua equipe. Houellebecq e seu livro ficaram inerentemente associados ao ataque. <\/p>\n<p>O livro cont\u00e9m diversas cr\u00edticas sociais e pol\u00edticas subjacentes ao enredo, com uma s\u00e1tira presente, particularmente em rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 falta de idealismo e \u00e0 passividade de certas classes diante das mudan\u00e7as pol\u00edticas. Um novo romance controverso, inteligente e amargamento engra\u00e7ado do mais famoso escritor liter\u00e1rio vivo da Fran\u00e7a.<\/p>\n<p>O debate contou com a presen\u00e7a de Juremir Machado, jornalista, historiador, escritor, tradutor, e doutor em sociologia pela Sorbonne e Paris V, al\u00e9m de coordenador do Programa de P\u00f3s-Gradua\u00e7\u00e3o em Comunica\u00e7\u00e3o da PUCRS.
